Artist Highlight: Aru Hanger (Performance Artist)

I've been working on this project for most of the year now and I'm excited to finally share the beginning of the process. This is a long-term project that allows me to be inquisitive... to dive deeper into experiencing and engaging with art in a meaningful way with wonderful creatives that I cross paths with. For now, I am calling it "Artist Highlight", but I know that over time the concept will evolve and I'll find a name that is better suited. The purpose of this project is to introduce and highlight artists, learn more about their artistic journey as well as what attracted them to their medium(s), and explore the ways in which artists and audiences can engage with one another.
Earlier this year I had a delightful experience interviewing my good friend, Aru Hanger, prior to their relocation to Germany. Aru is a performance artist based in Berlin, Germany.
I began with asking Aru, "What do you do?" and "How'd you get into it?" The conversation naturally unfolded as I learned more about Aru's exploration of taboos, witnessing vs engaging, self-expression and intimacy within their performances.
